Welcome Sally

Sally is a 2 year old beautiful black and white springer spaniel who was abandoned when her owners left the country. She was hit by a car when she was only a year old and had pins and a plate in her hip. She also lost her back foot which had badly ulcerated.

I couldn’t believe any dog who had gone through do much could still smile and  be happy, so I absolutely had to bring her home and introduce her to Rocky our 14 year old Tibetan Terrier.  I was worried that the old boy  might not be to happy having a sprightly young lady arrive to disturb the peace. But no, within 4 days of arrival, Sally went on heat and that was it…… love was in the air and he responded with youthful vigour and renewed energy.

We had spoken to our vet about the leg and the consensus was that it be removed and as soon as possible. Now with her going on heat we couldn’t take any chances of getting pregnant, so immediate surgery was planned to take care of both problems all in one fell swoop. This all happened last Sunday!

Unfortunately Sally has had some internal bleeding issues. We are pretty sure its a genetic disorder called von Willebrands disease which is a form of hemophilia. Tests are ongoing and she is on massive doses of vitamin K. However she is still smiling and still wants to go out walking.

Rocky is a perfect nursemaid and watches over her with love as do I. We are praying for her recovery
